From Spark of an Idea to Storytime Magic

Every Eden Veaux book starts with something small — a spark. Sometimes that spark comes from a childhood memory of my own, and other times it comes from the everyday adventures of my two children. In fact, the character Kayla is inspired by my daughter, and Hayden is inspired by my son. Many of these stories were originally created to teach them important life lessons in a way that was engaging and memorable.

What began as personal stories for my family grew into something bigger — books that now help children everywhere discover resilience, kindness, and curiosity.

The Heart of the Story

The first step in creating each book is deciding on the heart of the story. Every tale has a guiding message — whether it’s about handling disappointment with grace, celebrating differences, or persevering through challenges. That message shapes the world of the story and the journey the characters take, so it resonates with children and stays with them long after the last page.

Kayla and Hayden’s adventures are filled with real emotions and real lessons because they are rooted in moments from my children’s lives. Through their fictional journeys, I’m able to share universal values that all children can connect with.

Bringing the Illustrations to Life

The pictures in my books are just as important to me as the words. They’re how children see the world of the story — the characters’ smiles, the colors of their clothes, the little details that make each scene feel real. I create all of my illustrations myself, using a mix of tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and guided AI design. This combination gives me the flexibility to bring my ideas to life exactly the way I imagine them.

Every image starts with a clear vision in my mind — how I want the moment to feel, what the characters should be doing, and how the setting should look. From there, I shape the details carefully, making sure that facial expressions match the emotions in the story and that cultural elements are shown with care and respect. I spend a lot of time on these finishing touches because I know that the right picture can make a child feel truly connected to a story.

This process may use modern tools, but the heart behind it is entirely mine. Each illustration is a labor of love, designed to not only match the words but also to invite children into a colorful, meaningful world they’ll want to visit again and again.

Balancing Education and Fun

One of my goals has always been to write stories that both delight and teach. My children’s books are designed to entertain while encouraging empathy, problem-solving, and a love of learning. That’s why Eden Veaux books feel equally at home in a family’s bedtime routine, a classroom’s reading corner, or a library’s story hour.

Why the Process Matters

Knowing that these books grew out of moments with my own children makes them even more special to me — and I believe it adds something extra for the reader, too. Caregivers and teachers can trust that each story is written with heart and purpose, shaped by real experiences, and crafted to spark meaningful conversations.

When you open an Eden Veaux book, you’re not just reading a story. You’re stepping into a world that began as a personal lesson between a mother and her children — and has now become a gift for families everywhere.

For Caregivers and Teachers

When sharing an Eden Veaux book with children, you can:

  • Talk about the lesson behind the story and how it relates to real life.

  • Explore the cultural details in the illustrations.

  • Encourage kids to write their own story based on a real experience.

  • Discuss how stories can be inspired by family, friends, or personal challenges.

Behind every Eden Veaux book is a moment, a memory, or a message worth passing down. These stories started as love letters to my children — and now they’re here to empower readers of all ages with lessons that heal, teach, and inspire.
